In this workshop, you will explore the beauty and elegance of the Byzantine tradition through two fascinating subjects: the star inspired by the dome of the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, a symbol of Ravenna's mosaic art, and the decorative waves, designed to practice the flow and rhythm in the arrangement of the tiles.
You will use Venetian enamels, marbles, and golden inserts to create your personal mosaic, following each step of the process: from preparing the mortar to designing the grid, and finally, laying the tiles.
An intense, technical, and creative experience, ideal for those who want to tackle more complex and decorative forms and take home a precious memory made with their own hands.

Directions:
The workshop is located in the heart of Ravenna’s historic center.
It is reachable on foot in just 10 minutes from the Tourist Information Office at Piazza San Francesco and from the Train Station.

- Brief introductory visit to the workshop and presentation of the subjects- Drawing the grid for direct technique

Formats and Materials:Each participant can choose when booking whether to create:
- The Byzantine star, 17 cm in diameter, inspired by Galla Placidia
- Mosaic waves, 12 × 12 cm format
Both subjects use marbles, enamels, and gold inserts, designed to experiment with rhythm and composition.
Workshop Confirmation:
The activity will be confirmed once the minimum number of participants is reached and upon availability of the mosaic artist.
If the chosen date and time are not confirmed, we will contact you to offer an alternative date or another compatible workshop.
Recommended Age:
The experience is suitable for participants aged 12 and above. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Recommended Clothing:
The workshop provides all necessary tools, but an apron is not included. We suggest wearing comfortable clothing that is not too delicate.
Participation with Pets:
Pets are welcome, provided they are calm and used to staying in indoor environments for a couple of hours.
The workshop is a craft space, with tools and materials on the floor, and takes place with other participants, including children. It is up to the owner to evaluate if their pet is comfortable in this kind of setting.
